3D velocity from 3D Doppler radial velocity

چکیده
We present local least squares and regularization frameworks for computing 3D velocity (3D optical flow) from 3D radial velocity measured by a Doppler radar. We demonstrate the performance of our algorithms quantitatively on synthetic radial velocity data and qualitatively on real radial velocity data, obtained from the Doppler radar at Kurnell Radar station, Botany Bay, New South Wales, Australia. Radial velocity can be used to predict the future positions of storms in sequences of Doppler radar datasets. VC 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Tracking Weather Storms Using 3D Doppler Radial Velocity Information
3D Doppler Radar is a key forecasting tool for severe weather storms and automatic tracking of these deformable objects is of great interest to meteorologists. Currently, we use the notion of a 3D ellipsoid to represent the uncertainty of a storm’s 3D center in the Doppler precipitation data and have described elsewhere an algebra for its use in storm tracking. In this paper, we describe how we...
متن کامل3D Optical Flow from Single and Dual Doppler Radars
We present a 3D Optical Flow application using a regularization method to recover 3D wind velocity quantitatively from synthetic data and qualitatively from real data for both single and dual 3D Doppler Radars. By dual Doppler data we mean data from 2 separate but overlapping Doppler radars (the area of overlap is known from geometry to be a lens). Our algorithm easily extends to multi-radars b...
متن کاملA Real-Time, Three-Dimensional, Rapidly Updating, Heterogeneous Radar Merger Technique for Reflectivity, Velocity, and Derived Products
With the advent of real-time streaming data from various radar networks, including most Weather Surveillance Radars-1988 Doppler and several Terminal Doppler Weather Radars, it is now possible to combine data in real time to form 3D multiple-radar grids. Herein, a technique for taking the base radar data (reflectivity and radial velocity) and derived products from multiple radars and combining ...
متن کاملA sensitivity analysis on 3D velocity reconstruction from multiple registered echo Doppler views
We present a new method for reconstructing a 3D+t velocity field from multiple 3D+t colour Doppler images. Our technique reconstructs 3D velocity vectors from registered multiple standard 3D colour Doppler views, each of which contains a 1D projection of the blood velocity. Reconstruction is based on a scalable patch-wise Least Mean Squares approach, and a continuous velocity field is achieved ...
متن کاملImpact of Tamper Shape on the Efficiency and Vibrations Induced During Dynamic Compaction of Dry Sands by 3D Finite Element Modeling
Dynamic compaction is a soil improvement method which has been widely used for the increase of bearing capacity through stress wave propagation during heavy tamping. The cost and time of project implementation can be effectively curtailed by developing a model that can be used in the design of dynamic compaction operations. The numerical models offered so far are mostly one or two-dimensional, ...
